Service Description

This deeply nourishing yin yoga course explores the five elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Each class will be themed around a particular element guiding you through longer held postures, designed to stimulate the associated meridian lines bringing balance to the organ systems and the emotions related with the element. There will be time to rest in stillness, after each pose; allowing the body to integrate and recover from the stretch - this combination of practice can help create space for profound energetic and physical shifts. Fire Governs the heart and small intestine meridians, which run through the chest, shoulders and arms. This session will focus on opening the upper body to cultivate joy, compassion and clarity. Fire represents connection and enthusiasm. Working on the element of fire will help to regulate energy to avoid burnout by inviting warmth without overwhelm. Wood Corresponds to the liver and gallbladder meridians, flowing through the sides of the body, hips and inner legs. Associated with growth, directions and determination. This class will encourage a sense of purpose, whilst softening tension in the body's deeper connective tissue. The aim is to support the detoxification process helping to release stored frustration or stagnation in the body and mind. Water Linked with the kidneys and bladder. The water element travels through the spine, hamstrings and inner thighs. This class will tap into the reserves of energy and resilience, gently encouraging surrender and restoration. Water is the element of wisdom and flow. The aim will be to focus on nourishing the nervous system and building trust in the rhythm and cycles of the body. Earth Governs the stomach and spleen meridians, which run through the front body, thighs and core. This class centres on grounding and stability, enhancing digestion and the emotional balance. The element of earth helps to feel supported and centred - perfect for times of change or transition. The aim will be to explore themes of nurturing, nourishment and connection to self. Metal Tied to the lungs and large intestine meridians, which move through the upper back, shoulders, arms and sides of the torso. This class will invite reflection and release, helping to let go of what no longer serves. Metal supports clarity, structure and inspiration. This practice is aimed at encouraging deep breaths, internal space and emotional lightness. No prior experience is needed. Mats are provided.
